• The Home Page

This is a typical home page to the shopping cart, although no home page is "typical". And that's the point. With our skinning engine, variable layouts and optional controls (a control is computer-speak for a functional element) each page can take on any graphical appearance and play any functional role that you need. For another example, look at the home page of this site! Same software, but with a different skin and a different set of controls. Using skins gives you complete design freedom with the appearance of your site so you can give every page on your site a consistant look and feel (one skin), or every page can be different (one skin per page), or something in between - maybe a different skin for each product line.

The menus are completely flexible (and dynamic - add a category and it immediately shows up in the menu). The featured items are also dynamic (and you can have as many or as few as you want). There are over a hundred controls that are available, the search being just one example. And in case we missed one, we can easily create a new control to handle any particular requirement you might have!

  • The Category Page

The Category Page displays information about your product categories and lets your customers navigate through them to find what they are looking for.

Anything Ecommerce has a very powerful and flexible category structure. Categories are arranged in a tree structure so that each category can have as many sub-categories underneath it as needed. The number of categories and the number of sub-category levels is unlimited. And you can create as many trees as you need, so you can have a "shop by product" tree, and a "shop by manufacturer" tree, and a "shop by department tree", and so on.

The presentation of categories is also completely flexible. This page shows a main category with descriptive information, and a list of the sub-categories underneath it. You can also have a combination category/catalog page showing the main category with each sub-category underneath it and for each sub-category the products in that sub-category. Or you may want to have a dynamic menu that expands to show the sub-categories as you hover over a category and dispense with the category page entirely. It all depends on your requirements.

  • The Catalog Page

The Catalog Page is very much like the Category page except that it displays information about the products within a category. Here, too, the format is completely flexible. You can display the products in a grid or as a list. The grid can have as many or as few columns as you want. Both can show as many rows as you want. The paging control allows you to move through the list page by page, skip to any page you want, or move directly to the first or last page.

You have the option of allowing the customer to add the product directly to the cart, or, if you want them to see more detailed information about your products, you can send them on to the Product page. And you can display whatever information about the product as is necessary.

And are you getting the idea about the skinning engine and how you can make your website look any way you want it to look?

  • The Product Page

Now things begin to get interesting. There is a wealth of information about each product and we are regularly adding new information to suit individual client's needs. How you show this information is completely flexible. Lets take a look:

There can be just one image or an entire gallery to show multiple views of the product, or maybe the same product in different colors.

The product name is used as the page title, but it is also used throughout the site to identify the product, so there is also a display name that you can dress up with some styling and images and, for search purposes, there is a name alternates which can also be used to include common variations (plurals, anyone?) and mis-spellings.

There are multiple description fields available to use in any way you need. A short description to be used on, say, a catalog page and a long description to give more detail, a specifications to describe product characteristics, and more fields for whatever additional information you may want to present.

You can start with just the product price, but there is also MSRP price, sale price, members' pricing, promotional discounts, and more...

  • The Product Page - Additional

Breadcrumbs show the customer exactly where he is in the category tree and gives an easy route back to any of the preceding categories.

Unlimited product attributes are available to allow selection of sizes, colors, or whatever attributes you may need. Attributes can be required or simply default to a "standard" value. Available modifiers allow attributes to modify the product price or shipping weight.

You can optionally allow customer reviews and also customer questions. To prevent spam and customer flames, nothing gets posted to your product until you review and approve it. This is a great source of SEO rich information about your products, all provided with minimal effort on your part!

As the customer clicks on each image gallery thumbnail, it automatically becomes the detail image, or...

  • The Product Page - Still More...

To submit a review or a question, the customer just has to click on the "Add A Review" or "Ask a Question" button and complete the popup form.

When a customer creates an account, they can begin to maintain a wish list of all the products that they would like to buy in the future. When they are ready, they just go to their wish list and add the selected items to their cart.

Optional social media "share this" buttons are available and new buttons can be easily created.

...and we can keep going and talk about related products, attributes, and, well we think you get the picture, so let's move on.

  • The Shopping Cart

The Shopping Cart displays information about each of the products that the customer has selected for purchase. The customer can update the quantity or remove items in the cart, continue shopping, or begin the checkout.

There are also some additional controls that can be added to the cart: Upsell items (another form of related products) and a shipping calculator so the customer can get a shipping cost estimate before starting to check out.

...and while we can't show them here, all the buttons on the site can have an "on hover" effect so customers know they are active links that can be clicked on.

  • Checkout - Address

The customer is first given the option to sign in to his account, create a new account, or continue the checkout as a guest. This is where the billing name and address is entered

If the customer logs on, then the billing address is pre-populated from the account profile

If you sell internationally, the address can be set up with dynamic state codes that are appropriate to the customer's country. If the customer is in the US, then only the US states are listed. If the customer is Canadian, then only the Provinces are listed. And if the customer is international, the state becomes optional so whatever is appropriate (or even nothing) can be entered.

The customer can choose to have the order shipped to his billing address (in which case, the shipping address step is skipped), or to another address. And coming soon, an address book and multiple address shipping.

  • Checkout - Shipping

The shipping options page displays the shipping address of the current shipment so the customer knows which package he is selecting a shipping method for.

Anything ECommerce has a very robust shipping rules engine that lets you create almost any shipping rule you can imagine and the customer will only see those options that are available to him. Several promotional "free shipping" options are also available.

If your products are the type that can easily be purchased as gifts, an optional "gift card message" is available.

...and the customer can add additional shipping or delivery instructions as desired.

  • Checkout - Review

The review order page allows the customer to see the complete detail about his order before entering any personal payment information so he can be assured that the order is correct before committing to any payment.

If you create promotional coupons, they can be entered here.

You can create gift certificates and sell them as a special type of product. Customers who have received gift certificate can apply them here.

Multiple payment types are available and depending on the payment type selected by the customer, he is requested to enter the appropriate information.

  • Checkout - Confirmation

Once the order is completed, the customer receives the order confirmation page and an order confirmation email to his email account. The store customer service email account also receives a duplicate copy of the confirmation email. This concludes our tour, but there is much more to the Anything Ecommerce shopping cart than we have covered here...

Customer Accounts - Each customer account contains the customer's profile (basically the shipping address), the ability to create and change passwords, the customer's complete order history, and access to the wish list if that option is enabled.

Content Pages - You have the ability to create additional content pages to provide additional information about your business, your products, and any other information you may want to make available to your customers. The content pages are based on a rich text editor and allow text, images, links, and video. Complete content category structures can be created that provide immediate access to each new page as it is created.

The StoreManager - We did not even mention the StoreManager, a complete backend management system that lets you manage and control every aspect of the frontend store that we have touched upon in the tour! Well, except for the few things that require coding to set up, such as the skinning process...
